Icarus Player is a standalone Windows/Linux/MacOSX player for Icarus projects. Develop the projects using Icarus Professional, and distribute them using Icarus Player.
Icarus Player is available as a standalone desktop application, or as an Internet Explorer ActiveX control as part of the Icarus Professional installation.

Icarus Professional - an Open Source design application for real time environments
Icarus Professional is the 3D design studio that sits on top of the Icarus Scene Engine and provides the user with the ability to create, open and edit multiple IPX (Icarus Project XML) files simultaneously.Icarus uses hierarchial IPX files to store all scene information. This ensures that content is always editable, and can be processed quickly and cheaply for translation. All objects inside the IPX are also stored hierarchially, and can be organised into Scenes (and Scenes within Scenes), which can then be grouped together in custom order to form Sequences. Scenes can be either fixed length and contain animation, fixed length with simulation, or indeterminate length with simulation, animation, or any blend of simulation or animation.
Icarus Professional then allows code integration, testing, dynamic playback, pause, edit and continue capability so that simulations do not need to be restarted from scratch. Animation tracks and simulation properties can all be edited on the fly.
Icarus Professional then lets you group objects together into common types, embed IPX projects inside each other, create rapid templates for repeated use throughout a project. Templates can either be dynamic, or static. Icarus also comes with a robust plugin toolset that allows considerable flexibility in being able to add on capability. Plugins can perform full streaming media functions, physics, and even robotics, all designed to be editable in 3D.
Icarus Professional can then be used to create previsualisation sequences, games prototypes, home automation solutions, elearning and many others quickly.
Icarus Player then accompanies Icarus Professional to act as the "IPX viewer" for anybody who wishes to view a project.
The entire Icarus suite is built via Open Source and is freely usable to any and all. Some plugins however may require a commercial license for use outside educational establishments, and third party plugins may have their own licensing arrangements.
